Until today, only Non-Europeans were required to go to the "Centre de Biométrie" in addition to the visit at the communal authorities to launch the process of the residential and work permit card.
As of July 1st 2021, all nationals including Europeans must take their fingerprints, digital signature and facial picture at the "Centre de Biométrie" in Lausanne. As soon as you get your invitation letter from the cantonal authorities, you will be able to call for an appointment or book it online at the center. BYE BYE paper permits….
Exception: Process in place as of April 2021 for newcomers entitled to C-permit and renewals.
